Upcoming Smackdown - North Sydney Small Business Forum

Invitation Accepted!!!

And how could I resist - after all Joe is the Treasurer that promised so much but has delivered so little.

What a great opportunity to ask some pertinent questions, like:

Who are the real leaners v lifters?
What are the facts about negative gearing?
How does an emergency budget deficit become a walk in the park? Why are rising house prices good for our youth?
Why are we running a big Australia policy when we have rising unemployment and falling incomes?
What will the budget deficit look like when Iron Ore is US$20 per tonne?
Why do we have a Treasury Dept that cannot budget with an annual expenditure of $b when a $99 subscription to www.Macrobusiness.com.au would provide better research?

I'd welcome any other suggestions we could ask the Hon Member.

Update - smackdown postposed due to last minute ministerial commitments and has been rescheduled, with the new date being Wednesday 28 October, 7:30-9:00am.

Submission to the House of Reps home ownership inquiry

On Friday 24 April 2015 the Treasurer, the Hon Joe Hockey MP asked the House of Representatives Economics Committee to conduct yet another inquiry into and report on Home Ownership.

This follows on from the Senate's own inquiry into Housing Affordability whose Report, issued in May 2015, was largely ignored.

Submissions closed on Friday 26 June 2015.

For anyone interested they can read my submission at the Inquiry web site (number 23).

To be honest, I'm not expecting anything to come from the Inquiry. There have been numerous Inquiries in the past that have looked at affordable housing and our tax system with many recommendations that have been largely ignored by the Politburo.

But I wanted to at least put my observations on the public record for when the housing / finance / politico triumvirate brings our economy crashing down with our population enslaved in a pile of unpayable debt.
